Interview

1.First of all I want you to present yourself to all my readers:

- My name is J.Luis, I am a graduate in Industrial Mechanical Engineering from Polytechnic University of Madrid, currently working in a company in the automotive sector as a pilot installation of the various projects we are currently undertaking.

2.Why did you decided to study an engineering degree? Are you happy with your decision? Why?

-In my case I decided to study engineering because I've always been good with numbers, also in my opinion the work carried out by engineers is always different, every project that is carried out is different from before and that makes to test our knowledge and how to solve problems that are appearing. It is a decision I do not regret, if I had the chance to choose, I would choose to study engineering again, because I feel comfortable with the work that this degree has allowed me to perform.

3.Do you think that the grade was helpful to you in your work life? Or it should be more oriented to the workplace (not just theory)?

In my opinion, the degrees are poorly oriented to the workplace, it is true that some of the knowledge you acquire, are useful in the workplace, but in my case when I started working was like starting from scratch in a very different world to the student one with a lot more pressure and less theory unlike the practice is what ultimately matters in the automotive industry, so I think that grades should be reviewed to be adapt more to the work field.

4.Do you think that in knowadays is a good choice to study engineering? Why?

I think it is a good choice to be an engineer because engineers has a very wide field of work and we will never miss work and the work of engineers is infinite, there is always something to improve.

  

5.What advices would you give to an engineering student or someone who wants to study a grade in engineering?

In my opinion, the first thing that really likes what he does, either engineering or medicine, because it is the work that will carry out the rest of his life, the second thing I would say is you have to devote time and effort, which is the key to achieving our goals.
